What Is SEO/ Search Engine Optimization?

Search engine optimization

SEO stands for “search engine optimization”. In simple terms, it means the process of enhancing your point to increase its visibility when people search for products or services related to your business on Google, Bing, and other search engines. The better visibility your runners have in search results, the more likely you’re to garner attention and attract prospective and existing clients to your business.

As an Internet marketing strategy, It considers how search engines work, the computer-programmed algorithms that dictate search engine actions, what people search for, the very search terms or keywords typed into search engines, and which search machines are preferred by their targeted followership.

It is performed because a website will admit further callers from a search engine when websites rank higher on the Search Engine Results Page (SERP). These callers can also potentially be converted into guests.

Why is SEO important for marketing?

SEO is an essential part of digital marketing because people conduct trillions of searches every year, constantly with commercial intent to find information about products and services. Search is constantly the primary source of digital traffic for brands and complements other marketing channels. Greater visibility and ranking higher in search results than your competition can have a material impact on your bottom-most line.

Still, the search results have been evolving over the past few years to give users more direct answers and information that’s more likely to keep users on the results page rather than driving them to other websites.

Also note, that features like rich results and Knowledge Panels in the search results can increase visibility and give users further information about your company directly in the results.

In sum, It is the foundation of a holistic marketing ecosystem. When you understand what your website users want, you can also execute that knowledge across your campaigns (Paid and Organic), your website, your social media handles, and more.

How Does Search Engine Optimization Work?

It is similar to Google’s use of an algorithm or set of rules to determine what runners to show for any given query. These algorithms have evolved to be extremely complex, and take into account hundreds or even thousands of different ranking factors to determine the rankings of their SERPs. Even So, there are three core criteria that search engines estimate to determine the quality of a position and how it should rank:

  • Links– Links from other websites play a crucial part in determining the ranking of a point in Google and other search engines. The reason is, that a link can be seen as a vote of quality from other websites since website holders are doubtful to link to other spots that are of poor quality. Sites that acquire links from multiple other sites gain authority in the eyes of search engines, especially if the sites that are linking to them are themselves authoritative.
  • Content– In addition to looking at links, search engines also analyze the content of a webpage to determine if it would be applicable for any given search query. A large part of SEO is in creating content that’s targeted toward the keywords that search engines’ users are searching for.
  • Page structure– The third core element of SEO is page structure. Because webpages are written in HTML, how the HTML code is structured can impact a search engine’s ability to estimate a page. Including applicable keywords in the title, URL, and heads of the page and making sure that a site is crawlable are actions that site holders can take to upgrade the SEO of their point.

The SEO process involves optimizing each of these core components of search engine algorithms in order to rank higher in the search results.
